Signed and Dated in the Plate and Hand Numbered Linocut on Wove Paper
14.50 x 21.50 cm

This work is signed on the plate by the artist 'Picasso' in the lower right-hand margin. It is also dated on the plate '17.12.66' (17th Dec. 1966). It is hand-numbered in pencil, from the edition of 400 at the lower left margin and inscribed H.C. Hors Commerce [out of trade] on the lower right margin. The work was published by the Madoura Gallery in 1966 in a limited edition of 400 impressions. This linocut was specially engraved by Picasso as a Greeting Card to be sent to the friends of Suzanne and Georges Ramié for New Year 1967. The paper is folded in two and the greetings and details of the gallery are inside.

Note: Suzanne Ramié was one of the key figures of the potter’s city of Vallauris. In 1938, Suzanne and her husband Georges Ramié moved to Vallauris and created the studio Madoura. By 1948, Ramié set aside space in their studio for Picasso to produce his works. For over 25 years Picasso produced more than 3,500 original ceramics at the Madoura atelier.
